I cannot tell you how much I loved being a part of Thomas and Amy’s proposal in Colonial Williamsburg!

When Thomas reached out to me about photographing their proposal in CW I just knew it was going to be something special. Together we planned all the details like where he’d propose, what time of day we’d meet up, and how we’d keep Amy from figuring things out. To be honest, several things did not go as planned, but the end result was truly magical as you can see from their beautiful photos!

I showed up to Colonial Williamsburg early in the day to scope things out, just as I typically do for all my sessions. I am SO glad I did because when I got there I found out there was a huge event happening that day! That means the entire CW area was swarmed with people, and the palace (where he planned to propose) was completely off limits! Thankfully I was able to take some time to walk around and find another spot for Thomas to propose. He was super flexible and trusted my judgement which made things easier.

Proposal in Colonial Williamsburg

It was freezing cold that day but that didn’t matter! What mattered was that Thomas and Amy got engaged and I caught it on camera. I found this cozy little spot with a fence, some brick, and some nature–all different textures that made for beautiful photos. I quickly studied the light patters (as I always do!) to make sure the quality of photos would be stunning. Then I messaged Thomas the location and he and Amy made their way there.

I waited around like a weirdo with a big fancy camera trying not to look awkward. Haha! And when the time was just right, I turned toward the happy couple and started snapping beautiful photos! I really wanted to document this moment because I knew they’d be cherishing these photos forever.

After the big moment, we walked around Colonial Williamsburg taking some fun photos of the two of them. They turned out so beautifully! Truly loved meeting this amazing couple and capturing this moment they’ll never forget!
