Tom, Jill, and their two adorable kiddos love visiting Williamsburg as frequently as they can. The charm and rich history embedded in to the Williamsburg experience keeps them coming back again and again. This time, they decided to book a family photo session to really capture their love for this quaint and historic town.

We planned their date and time well in advance, and worked on details (like what to wear and where to meet) leading up to our photo session together. As a photographer I truly cherish the opportunity to help families feel as relaxed as possible during their photo session. It’s so important that the experience is actually FUN!

And that’s exactly what we had. We had an absolute blast together.

Photo Session Flow

We began our session at this beautiful, unassuming little spot where the golden hour sun was showing off! This is where we got to know each other, and sort of broke the ice a little. Within minutes everyone was relaxed and all smiles. And within minutes I knew this family would be so special to me. I quickly fell in love with this wonderful family!

We then made our way through town, stopping first at the Governor’s Palace–an 18th-century home that was once the residence of Virginia’s royal governors! This was a spot that the Aguiar family really wanted to capture, so we made sure to make that happen while the sun was just right. Jill shared with me that they’ve taken countless photos in front of the Governor’s Palace, but one reason they wanted a family photo session in Colonial Willimsburg was because they knew a professional photo would blow those iphone photos out of the water. And boy oh boy was she right!
